american psycho'da patrick bateman'ın "grubun tartışmasız başyapıtı" olarak bahsettiği genesis'in 1986 çıkışlı albümü invisible touch'ın en kayda değer şarkılarından biridir****. şarkının müzikleri gruba*, sözleri ise grubun gitaristi mike rutherford'a aittir. şarkının sözleri, dönemin** olaylarına göndermeler yapılarak yazılmıştır.
şarkının klibi, ingiltere'de 1984-1996 yılları arasında gösterimde kalmış bir televizyon kukla şovu olan spitting image programında, phil collins'in kendi kuklasının da yer aldığı bir parodiyi çok beğenmesi ve şarkının klibinin de aynı teknikle yapılmasını talep etmesiyle çekilmiştir. sonuçta ortaya çıkan klip, mtv'de o dönemde en çok dönen kliplerinden bir tanesi olmuş ve seksenli yılların en unutulmaz kliplerinden biri olmuştur. 2001 a space odyssey'den bedtime for bonzo'ya uzanan geniş bir yelpazede popüler kültürle dalgasını geçen, o dönemin ünlü sanatçıları ve politikacıların kuklalarının yer aldığı klip, 1988 yılında "en iyi video klip" dalında grammy kazanmış, ancak mtv video müzik ödüllerinde aynı ünvanı eski bir genesis üyesi olan peter gabriel'in sledgehammer şarkısına kaybetmiştir.
disturbed ün şahane yorumladığı, ancak objektif bakınca "cover" mantığından çok ta nasibini almamış olan genesis parçası. çok değiştirmek yerine ufak tefek eklemeler ve biraz daha sert tonlarla çalmayı tercih etmişler. ha çıkan iş kötü mü, tabii ki değil, hastası oldum iki gündür dinlemekten alamıyorum kendimi bi türlü.
in flames yorumuna gelirsek, bence "cover" olayına en güzel örneklerden biri olmuş bu, hem melodisi daha hızlandırılmış, hem de ritmleri değiştirilmiş bir halde çalmışlar parçayı, azıcık dikkatsiz dinlerseniz tanıyamayabiliyorsunuz o derece hatta. parçanın kayıt kalitesinden enstrüman tonlarına kadar beğenmediğim çok fazla yönü olsa da genel olarak çıkarılmak istenen sonuç çok güzel. keşke diyorum...

efsane genesis parçası. çeşitli coverları olsa da kanımca en güzeli disturbed tarafından yapılmıştır. ayrıca çok da gaz bir klip çekmişti kendileri bu parçaya. sözleri şöyle oluyor;
