  4. bunların birden fazla çeşidi vardır,yeşil olanı superman'in güçlerini kaybetmesine neden olur,siyah kriptonit kötü tarafını ortaya çıkrarır,altın renkli olanı normal bir insan yapar,mavi olanı bizarro superman'de yeşil kriptonit etkisi yapar,beyaz olanı bulunduğu gezegende ki bitki yaşamını yok eder v.s
    bu kriptonit çeşitlerinde sadece yeşil,siyah ve mavi olanı post-crisis sonrası çizgiromanlarda kullanılıyor.

    kingdom come serisinden sonra ki olayları anlatan the kingdom adlı seride superman'in yaşlandıkça kriptonit'e bağışıklık kazandığı söylenmiştir.

    sarı güneş ışığı superman'e güçlerini verdiği gibi bu taşlarında superman'i etkileyebilmesine neden olur.
